Ribbed Hat

Frank's Ribbed Hat - Relax View

The pattern is from Knit Item – ISBN 4277171745. This is a great book by the way. It has really manly (conservative) hat, scarves and glove patterns.

Yarn: Knit Picks Andean Silk in Slate, 96 yds X 2 balls.

Needles: Clover 7″ DPN Size 8

Gauge: 21 Sts = 4″ in St St

The hat is a little small for a 22″ head. I followed the gauge but because it was in Japanese, I realize now that the gauge is for rib, not stockinette. So when I redo this in the future, I will aim for about 16-18 sts=4″ St st instead.

The pattern was easy. It’s a 1X1 rib worked in the round. The Japanese chart doesn’t show a section of stitches so I had to improvise and count the “invisible” stitches. Anyways I took detailed notes so I can do the hat again easily in the future. Check out my Flickr gallery for more photos of Ribbed Hat.
